…Arriving…

…and were happily surprised at the size. It’s a studio with a full kitchen and bath, and the half-covered terrace is just gorgeous. With the French doors open, it’s a big indoor/outdoor apartment. There’s a lovely pool that we didn’t expect to use, but have been going in on average twice a day, next to a barbecue area. The grounds are extremely lush, with different kinds of flowers as well as plantain, banana, papaya, mango, and avocado trees, and there’s a spot where we’ll be able to plant some tomatoes and lettuce.

Costa RicaIt’s hot (80ish), breezy, and very humid, and it rains off and on throughout the day, sometimes quite unexpectedly. The beaches are gorgeous and pretty much deserted at the moment. The ocean water is fairly cool at the beach closest to us and warmer at the better surfing beach to the south, which is the one we can see from our terrace.

I wondered why you moved at this time of the year. HUMIDITY! And it’ll get worse. Last October in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, it was, what I call, a 4-shower day. One in the morning, one in the early afternoon, one around 6 before going out to dinner, and one before bed! Oh well. It’s all still so beautiful. I’m sure you’ll end up on the beach under a palapa, laptop and margarita at your service, running into the water now and then to cool off. Like the rest of us! In November, the humidity and rain end and you’ll love it. Hang in there!

It’s too bad about the French government and the visa issue (c’est la vie, n’est-ce pas?), but you’ll have a great time in costa Rica.
