Elly in Bloom

Elly in Bloom - Colleen Oakes - 2 hearts awardElly in Bloom, by Colleen Oakes, is the floweriest book I’ve ever read. I know I’ve read other chick lit featuring florists, but this one describes flowers and bouquets and wedding arrangements in exquisite-verging-on-excruciating detail. It’s kind of fun, but it gets a bit tedious.

Even more tedious is the main conflict, the “extravagant wedding contract” mentioned in the blurb, which I won’t spoil (though it’s not hard to figure out). I get that it’s a big, painful thing, but it just goes on and on, as do some of the subplots. All in all, I finished this one with a sigh of relief.
