Rachel Schurig’s In Search of a Love Story starts off with an interesting premise: can life without chick lit and chick flicks lead to romantic difficulties? If a woman hasn’t read Pride and Prejudice, how can she be expected to recoganize obvious clues about what kind of guys she’s dating?
Unfortunately, the premise doesn’t live up to its promise, and the heroine falls for a guy who is so obviously not The One that the reader is left to conclude that her problem is not a lack of romantic fiction, but of the slightest crumb of common sense. The ending was obvious from miles away, and the journey there was long and tedious. Meh.
