Wounded

Wounded - Lindsay Buroker - 4 hearts awardThe unfortunately named Wounded, by Lindsay Buroker, is more action-adventure-mystery than romance, but it’s still a pretty good book. The title unnecessarily references a tragic event in the male lead’s past, and originally made me think this would be a dark book but it’s not – it features a strong heroine trying to understand Mr. “Wounded” and to resolve the mystery of the eco-village where she is staying for the summer.

This is a quick read: there’s some excitement and a little humor, but in my opinion, this type of book is not Ms. Buroker’s forte. She’s first and foremost a fantasy writer, and I’ve read everything she’s written. The best by far is The Emperor’s Edge series, which I *loved.* It’s the first steampunk I’ve ever read and also features magic, a warrior caste, loyalty, and just a bit of romance, which is very well done – sweet and funny.
