{"id":93,"date":"2006-08-31T09:47:04","date_gmt":"2006-08-31T13:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lklawless.com\/blog\/archives\/93"},"modified":"2023-05-17T17:40:58","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T21:40:58","slug":"dan-brown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lklawless.com\/blog\/dan-brown\/","title":{"rendered":"Dan Brown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just finished re-reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/074349346X\/lawless03-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angels &#038; Demons<\/a> (the prequel to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0385504209\/lawless03-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Da Vinci Code<\/a>), and I was struck once again by two things: <i>Angels &#038; Demons<\/i> is far and away a better book, and Dan Brown isn&#8217;t a very good writer. I mean yes, of course, the plots are fascinating and the detail second to none, but his writing style is almost childlike at times. In <i>Angels &#038; Demons<\/i>, for example, at one point the protagonist learns a little factoid about wind resistance, and the author foreshadows its importance, but not very well &#8211; it just sounds stupid.
