My Fireplace
In a burst of slightly bizarre creativity, I put together a fireplace to hang my tiny Christmas stockings. I covered a plywood base with thin scraps of slate (scraped off our slate deck), I painted the cardboard walls black and then sprinkled ash on the wet paint, and the fire of course is cut from construction paper. Cute, eh? (Click on the photo to see the bigger picture)

Is this covered by your medical insurance? Are you seeking professional help?
Actually, it IS bizarrely cute !
An added benefit is that, if you
choose to do something illegal, the insanity defense is a slam
dunk!
And Merry Christmas to you, too!

Is that a real log?
This is strange but nice.

Yes, it is real wood. That piece is about 2 inches in diameter.
By the way, I forgot to mention that you can click on the photo to see the full-size version.

This is cute! Speaking of logs, I was going to attempt to make my own bûche de Nöel (the chocolate kind) this year, but settled for eating my neighbors instead
Oh well, in my defense, I am trying to make nutella truffles tomorrow. Enfin bref, Happy holidays!!!!

Hello, Laura.
Happy new year and all that sort of stuff.
Off topic: I am a translator too, only my main interests are in other fields.
I was thinking about writing an article on words that are missing in
Spanish and English, the two languages I know best.
For example, en medio could become the word “enmedio”, if that is not already a word, it could be a useful and elegant adverb.
The point is, maybe you should write that article or maybe a book.
What do you think.
