US Southwest
We’re planning a two-week trip in the southwest US for April, including the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas (for shows, not gambling), Valley of Fire, Pine Creek, Lake Powell, Four Corners, the Hopi reservation, Taos, whitewater rafting, Madrid, Santa Fe, and El Paso. We’ll be driving a lot, obviously. Our schedule is pretty packed already, but I’d love to know if we are missing anything essential.

Don’t forget Mesa Verde, it is not too far from
Cortez and Lake Powell I believe. I have never been there but it is on my list. Everyone that
I have talked to really enjoyed their visit. ~Becky

Yes, we’re going to do a lot in that area – two nights in Page, a night in Cortez,
and a night in Chinle, with plenty of driving around the area in between.

folkart museum in SantaFfe, go to Bryce canyon

I agree with mewill, ABSOLUTELY
go to Bryce Canyon. We did 7 national parks last summer (Yosemite, Sequoia, Zion, Bryce, Lake
Powell, Grand Canyon, and Joshua Tree) and Bryce was our big favorite!

We did a very similar trip
last year. Strating in las Vegas and ending up in Denver. You can’t miss Monument Valley –
awesome. We also included Zion National Park which was stunning. Our trip was two weeks but we
spent only a day in Las Vegas. If you’re spending any more than that, you’ll probably have to
choose to leave out some of these great suggestions people have given you.- Then again, we
spent 4days at The Grand Canyon, including visiting the North Rim so you could gain some time
on here with a shorter visit.

I can’t believe I forgot to
mention Antelope Canyon at Page.

Since we’ve already paid for half of it, we are still going to take this trip, but
with our new plans to move in May, some of the excitement at touring the Southwest has been
lost. But I’m sure once we’re out there, it will be fantastic. Thanks for all of your
suggestions!
