US Southwest, in sum
So that’s it. We spent 14 days in the US southwest, during which we visited 6 states: Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, plus the Mexican state of Chihuahua. We flew from Philadelphia to Las Vegas, drove 2,757 miles, hiked at least 15 miles, took over 200 pictures, and flew home from El Paso. I only went online once. We saved at least $20 by purchasing America The Beautiful, the national parks and federal recreational lands annual pass. We actually bought it after we’d already been to several parks, but since we had the receipts and it had been less than two weeks since our visit, they credited our entrance fees against the cost of the pass ($80).
We had a great time, but we felt pretty burnt out by around day 10. Now we’re back safe and sound, packing up for our move to Costa Rica next week. ¡Hasta luego!

Laura, I see your rave reviews of Costa Rica, but why are you moving there?
Also, while
I’ve got you, do you know a source for books-on-tape (or CD)in French? I want classics, not
current best-sellers.
