Traveling Overseas
So far, I’ve been to 11 countries: Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, England, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, and Morocco. My favorite is France (of course), but I also love Costa Rica (for the natural beauty) and Italy (for the food and architecture). At the top of my list of places I’d like to see are Tahiti, Greece, and Australia. What about you?

Hi LKL, Nelson BC is my favorite place to be, we hope to move there
soon, there have been tooooooo many delays but it will be worth it. Nelson is in the interior
part of BC, the Kootenays, it is a magical place.
Places to see: Id love to go to Easter
Island, Fiji and closer to home, Cape Cod and Puget Sound. How’s that for a mixed selection
LOL….

I love London – I’m
just at home there whenever I can get across the pond, even though I’m from Maine…I love
Italy, too! Montrèal is a great city to visit!
I’ve never spent any appreciable time in
France, so that’s on the list, as are Greece, Brazil, Morocco…I visited several countries
during my junior year abroad in college – I’d go visit any of them again in a second!

Hello, according to me, Turkey
is a lovely place to visit, as it includes seven different regions and climats; so you have a
variety of things to choose : seaside, mointains, lakes, ski resorts, historical- antique
places, unique attractions, all kinds of food, including mediterranean food. With best wishes
to everybody.

I guess (unfortunately) a factor in any travel now is how safe is the
country to visit? Too bad violence and terrorism can make travel choices a cause for concern.
Of course (and not to make light of)all the other problems that result….G

Just spent three weeks in Australia and had the
time of my life. Traveled from Melbourne, up to Sydney, to lots of small cities, all of the
way up to Cairnes and Port Douglas. There are so many activities to do there from scuba diving
in the Great Barrier Reef, gondola rides through the rain forrest, shopping in Melbourne, the
ballet at the Sydney Opera House, sky diving over the ocean, and so much more! It’s a
trip you must do.
I spend about a month per year in France and love it there too.
There is no place like Paris! Will be attending language school next year in France for
three months and really looking forward to that experience

So far I’ve visited

We live on
the border with Canada, so I always say that we are a suburb of Ottawa.
You are so right,
Costa rica is a beautiful and fabulous place to visit/ or live. In fact I thought I wanted to
retire there until I went to France. When the plane was circling Paris, I looked out the
window and as I choked up, said “I’m home now.” We’ve visited France 3 times, Spending time
in Paris, and a small village west of Toulouse called Gimot. There is a wonderful Chateau at
which we stayed twice in Gimot called Chateau Larroque.
Still on my list of to see places;
Italy, Greece, Ireland , and Scottland.
Currently I’m seeking the courage to just move to
France.

I’m from
Kelowna, British Columbia and I’m currently living in the Chicago ‘burbs. So far my travel
experiences have included France (Normandy, Brittany, and the Loire Valley), Australia, New
Zealand, Fiji, Quebec where I did my French studies at Laval University and where I take my
students in the spring for some French immersion and Quebecois cultural experience, and several
road trips across the U.S. I enjoy traveling immensely and hope to do a trip to Norway and
Sweden next, since it’s part of my heritage. I’d also love to do some travels in South
America and Africa.

Hello LKL,
Over the past
6 years I have gone to Europe with a group of friends to different parts of Europe on
educational/sightseeing tours. The places visited so far include Western Ireland, Switzerland,
Scotland, Provence (France), Lake Region of Itlay (Lake Como etc.) and Tuscany. My favorite so
far has been Tuscany because of the people, the food, the small hill top medieval villages and
the incredible sense of history everywhere you go. We stayed in Cortona at a hotel where my
balcony overlooked Trasimene Lake where Hannibal defeated two Roman legions in 217 BC during
the Second Punic War.
The educational part of these trips involves professors (history,
archeology, art etc.) giving us overviews of various aspects of what we were going to see on a
particular day. I have learned so much this way that I think it is fair to say that it has
doubled the pleasure I get out of traveling. I can appreciate much more what I am seeing and
experiencing. Also, to go with a group that is similary interested in more than just
sightseeing is very stimulating – exchanging experiences of the day over dinner etc. (Also, on
these tours we have access to private homes, castles etc. that I would not have as a single
individual.)
In addition to these places on the educational/siteseeing tours favorite
places visited have to include for me the mode of travel. Specifically I would put in the top
two places of countries visited because of the nature of the trip in addition to the
spectacular beauty (1) a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe area of nothern Minnesota
(where Minnesota meets Canada – sometimes refered to as the “ten thousand lake region” ). This
is a hauntingly beautiful place where you cross in and out of Canada sometimes several times a
day; camp on islands in the lakes, hear the loons at night and, if lucky, see the Auria
Borealis.
Number 2 trip (actually done on 3 different occassions) sailing (that is,
being your own crew) from island to island in the Caribbean on a 50 foot sail boat. Places
visited included the British Virgin Islands, Gaudeloupe and Dominica. Uninhabited islands
with white sandy beaches, turquoise water that is clear enough to reflect the moon at night.
The closest thing to paradise on earth, in my opinion. Especially if you like swimming.
Additionaly, the list of countries visited include (before I went on the
educational/sightseeing tours) The Czech Republic (Praque – the “Paris of the East” was
unforgettably wonderful – I will certainly go back), Austria (Vienna and Salzburg), Sloveni,
Croatia (Zagreb), Hungary (Budapest) Slovakia and Germany (mostly Nuremberg and small towns
nearby) .
I would like to go to Greece, Istanbul, cruise the canals of France, go
down the Danube from its source to the Black Sea, take the canal trip from Moscow to St.
Petersburg. But, most of all, right now, I want to go sailing again in the Carribean and
explore other islands.
