Happy Halloween!

I loved trick-or-treating as a kid – who didn’t? – and now I know that a lot of adults love taking part and doling out candy. Unfortunately, I’ve spent most of my adult life living in remote areas or overseas, so I don’t get to experience the adult half of the equation.

So that leaves me with just my sites for spreading Halloween cheer:

Crossing the Equator

After leaving Panama and continuing south toward Ecuador, I crossed the equator for the first time ever. I knew this moment was coming, of course, but I didn’t think to pay attention to when it would happen, so I was pleased when the cruise director announced that there would be an “equator crossing ceremony” for first timers like me at 3pm. Mardi Gras 2021

Mardi Gras is the ultimate street party – at least in a normal year. In 2021, with travel restrictions, lockdowns, and social distancing, traditional floats and dancing are out of the question. But creative people will always find an outlet, as in these uniquely 2021 Mardi Gras celebrations.
