Thanksgiving, as celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, is a uniquely American holiday, but you still might want to talk about it in French, Spanish, or Italian. Here’s some vocabulary to help you get ready for this year’s American Thanksgiving – and some vegetarian recipes, just in case.
I loved trick-or-treating as a kid – who didn’t? – and now I know that a lot of adults love taking part and doling out candy. Unfortunately, I’ve spent most of my adult life living in remote areas or overseas, so I don’t get to experience the adult half of the equation.
So that leaves me with just my sites for spreading Halloween cheer:

Mardi Gras is the ultimate street party – at least in a normal year. In 2021, with travel restrictions, lockdowns, and social distancing, traditional floats and dancing are out of the question. But creative people will always find an outlet, as in these uniquely 2021 Mardi Gras celebrations.
