Money for Nothing

Have you ever gotten free money? I once bought a $300 bike with a credit card, but the purchase never showed up on my statement. Another time I spent $95 at a store, but it showed up as 96 on the statement. When I called to complain, they credited me the entire $96, rather than just the extra 1. (In addition, I’d been reimbursed the entire 95 by the friend I’d made the purchase for). I bought mutual funds once via bank transfer, and though the money was never taken out of the bank, I received statements regularly for a year. The funds then proceeded to grow by more than 25%. (They eventually figured this one out and I had to pay, but it was a no lose situation since the funds had grown substantially).

Internet Movie Database

I love movies, and I’m usually very good at putting faces to names. But when I can’t, the Internet Movie Database is the first place I turn. You can search this incredible resource by actor, movie, theme, and more, and the range of information – trivia, comments, goofs… – is amazing. I’ve spent many a happy hour just browsing around, learning more about my favorite actors, movies, and television shows.

Summer Recipes

When it’s hot out, you probably don’t want to eat something hot, let alone stand over the stove cooking it for an hour. Here are some recipes for “hot weather foods” that require a minimum of cooking and allow maximum enjoyment of the warm weather: summer recipes

What kind of cookie are you?

It’s Saturday and as you can see I’m avoiding work, so here’s another time waster, although this one only takes a couple of minutes. I just took the What Kind of Cookie Are You? quiz, and here are my results:

You Are a Fortune Cookie
You’re a rather normal person, except that you have extraordinary luck in life.
People want to be around you (even when they’re a little sick of you), in hopes of being lucky too!

It’s actually pretty accurate, though “extraordinary” might be a bit excessive. I do tend to be fairly lucky, though – my husband is always trying to get me to buy lottery tickets. Anyway, your turn – what kind of cookie are you? 🙂
