Are you as sick of spam as I am? It’s not just in email anymore… in addition to the hundreds of spam emails I receive at my 7 email addresses, this blog gets over 100 spam posts per day. Fortunately they are filtered out, but I still have to clean out the filter periodically. In any case, the best program I’ve found for dealing with email spam is Spamihilator, a freeware program with all kinds of options and a fairly decent learning filter. Check it out.
The Best Chocolate
What is your favorite kind of chocolate? I think mine is Lindt – I’ve always been a fan of their dark chocolate truffles and chocolate-peanut butter truffles, and then this weekend I discovered their extra dark chocolate truffles, which are divine. I grew up on Fannie May chocolates, and I still think they have the best chocolate-covered almonds to be found anywhere.

Stata Center, Cambridge
October 15, 2006’s Doonesbury inspired me to google the Stata Center in Cambridge – what a cool building!
Stupid things people say
White House Press Secretary Tony Snow initially minimized the [former Representative Mark Foley] scandal in an interview with CNN: “Look, I hate to tell you, but it’s not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill, and there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails.”

Foley checks into rehab as Republicans seek cover
I don’t know, that just has a certain “sh*t happens – deal with it” ring to it that isn’t exactly what you would expect the White House’s official position to be.
“Open Season”
Saw it Saturday night, in IMAX 3-D. Great movie! There was one line that was so unexpected and so funny that I was still shaking with laughter 10 minutes later. In addition to the big names like Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher, I immediately recognized the voice of the character Ian, but it wasn’t until after the movie that I could place it: Patrick Warburton, the guy who played Elaine’s boyfriend Puddy on Seinfeld. (BTW, Seinfeld is not on his Internet Movie Database page, but his name is on the Seinfeld page).
I am a huge fan of animated films. I know people who love them but refuse to go without a kid – I don’t care about that. Good movies are good movies, and the big animated films are always written with adult jokes and sequences. And they’re even better in IMAX, and then when you add 3-D, well, that’s just the ultimate movie. The only thing about IMAX that bothers me is sometimes the action can be a bit blurry, during scenes where the camera “sweeps” across a scene.
